
The Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) is an independent regulatory authority that is charged with the mandate for the regulation of electricity operations in Kogi State. The Commission was established under the Kogi State Electricity Law of 2024, and has the responsibility for developing a commercially viable, sustainable and reliable electricity market that serves all the residents of Kogi State.
Our mandate is to establish a stable legal, commercial and technical regulatory framework for the provision of electricity to residents of the State by market participants that are licensed to operate in the Kogi State Electricity Market for the benefit of residents of the State.
Kogi State electricity market kick-off
The Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) organized a stakeholder engagement meeting in preparation for the Kogi State Electricity Market Kick-off. The event brought together key stakeholders, including Kogi Electricity Distribution Limited (KEDL), policymakers in Kogi State, the Commissioners for Energy, Health, Education, and Information, as well as the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor. Also in attendance were representatives from the State Commissioner of Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Maigeri of Lokoja. This town hall meeting was part of KERC’s efforts to promote transparent governance and attract investments in the Kogi electricity market.
